I was so fortunate to come across Sally Russick one day while I doing some creative exploration; as I do quite often because I just LOVE to see what other artists are up to and how they are challenging themselves. Sally's Blog is: http://thestudiosublime.com/ Sally was hosting a blog hop centered around creating a piece centered around a handmade Cabochon made by yourself. When I saw this I knew my interests were MORE than piqued! So I signed up right away and here is what I came Up with:
While I am a mixed media jewelry artist the one medium I am so in love with is Polymer Clay. I love polymer clay so much because it is so versatile; there are so many things you can do with it; and I love exploring and experimenting with its so many possibilities that it was a no brainer for me to use polymer clay for my cabochon. Lately I have been making a bunch of molds from my collection of Antique buttons and Cameos. I chose one of my favorite Cameo molds for my cabochon. The cameo is of A girl looking at a Dove that has perched on her hand. I treated the cameo with Swellegant, patina'd and sealed it and mounted it on a mount from http://bsueboutiques.com I framed the cab with a wire crocheted frame and finished the focal with little seed bead dangles. The rest of the necklace is comprised of handmade beads made up of Copper wires and seed beads and Polmer clay, Copper, hand painted bead caps and other accent beads. The necklace is finished with a handmade toggle clasp.
So, thanks for stopping by and looking! Here is the list of the other very talented artists in the group; please be sure to stop by and visit their blogs to see their creations as well!
